Inaugural screening of the documentary «Winter Journey» at the Girona Cinemas in Barcelona

The first public presentation in Barcelona of the documentary Winter Journey took place at the Girona Cinemas. Directed by Anna Sanmartí, and produced by Nanouk Films, BAS and Suica Films. It has the support of Catalan television (TV3), Valencian television (Àpunt), the Institut Valencià de Cultura (IVAC) and the Institut Català de les Empreses Culturals (ICEC).

Winter Journey was born with the purpose of documenting and introducing to the general public the artistic and vital trajectory of Mateo Vilagrasa. Tied to a wheelchair for more than twelve years, Vilagrasa prepares the trip to his farewell, in what he senses is a last chance to leave a mark on the meaning of his work and life, which is confirmed by his sudden death during filming. The documentary thus becomes a posthumous document that seeks to reveal the meaning of his life and work, weaving an intimate as well as heartbreaking portrait, spiced up with reflections of the artist, a thinker who paints around the “I” and the sense of  existence.
